The Los Angeles Dodgers received a significant boon Monday as Kenley Jansen got the approval from a cardiologist to be activated off the 10-day disabled list. Though in a corresponding move, Zac Rosscup was placed on the DL due to a left calf strain.

While Jansen’s return undeniably was a positive development for the bullpen, in the end it ultimately came with news of two relievers suffering injury. In addition to losing Rosscup, the same now appears to hold true for J.T. Chargois.

He was the first reliever Dodgers manager Dave Roberts called on in Monday’s series opener against the St. Louis Cardinals, replacing Alex Wood with two on and nobody out in the fifth inning.

Chargois faced one batter — walking Marcell Ozuna — then was visited by Roberts and trainer Nate Lucero. He was removed from the game due to neck discomfort, according to J.P. Hoornstra of the Southern California News Group:

The Dodgers say J.T. Chargois left the game with "neck discomfort."

Chargois went into the game 2-4 with a 3.45 ERA, 3.93 FIP and 1.28 WHIP in 37 games this season. He benefitted from time spent with Triple-A Oklahoma City, pitching to a 1.88 ERA while holding opponents to a .180/.226/.320 batting line over his last 17 appearances (excluding Monday).

It’s currently unclear, but may be safe to presume, that Chargois will require a stint on the disabled list.
