Major League Baseball announced the rosters for the 20th annual SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game and representing the Los Angeles Dodgers will be outfielder Yusniel Diaz and catcher Keibert Ruiz, both of which currently play for Double-A Tulsa.
Diaz, who the Dodgers signed out of Cuba in Nov. 2015, and Ruiz, who was signed in 2014 out of Venezuela, will both be playing for the World Team that will be managed by David Ortiz.
The 21-year-old Diaz is in the midst of a very strong season with Tulsa, hitting .295/.409/.446 with five home runs, 25 RBI, 31 runs scored and seven stolen bases in 52 games. He is the Dodgers fourth-best prospect according to MLB.com.
Ruiz, who is only 19 years of age, has struggled a bit with the bat this year but is still very highly regarded in the organization as the No. 2 ranked prospect. In 60 games for Tulsa, Ruiz has slashed .248/.302/.361 with six home runs and 22 RBI.
Ruiz (44) and Diaz (85) are two of the thirty top 100 prospects in baseball according to MLB Pipeline that will be participating in the game.
The 2018 Futures Game is set to take place at Nationals Park on Sunday, July 15, just before the Major League Home Run Derby and All-Star Game.
Fourteen of the 50 Futures Gamers from last year currently are playing in the big leagues, although the Dodgers representatives, Alex Verdugo and Yadier Alvarez, are both still in the Minor Leagues. Verdugo has seen some time at the big league level in each of the last two seasons though.
