Dodgers-Cubs Series Opener At Wrigley Field Rained Out, Doubleheader Scheduled For Tuesday

Monday’s series opener between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs game at Wrigley Field was postponed after a more than two-and-a-half-hour delay due to rain and a limited power outage in the area.

The two teams will play a split doubleheader on Tuesday, with the first contest scheduled for 10:05 a.m. PT and the second game at 5:05 p.m. Kenta Maeda was scheduled to start for the Dodgers against Cubs right-hander Tyler Chatwood, and they’re expected to pitch the first game.

Rich Hill remains on target to be reinstated from the 10-day disabled list for a start opposite Mike Montgomery in the nightcap.

Monday’s matchup was supposed to mark the start of seven head-to-head meetings in the next 11 days between the two teams. The Cubs travel to Los Angeles for a four-game series at Dodger Stadium next week.

The Dodgers and Cubs have met in each of the last two National League Championship Series, with the Cubs winning in six games in 2016 en route to their first World Series Championship in 108 years.

The Dodgers then got their revenge in 2017, winning in five games before being defeated by the Houston Astros in the World Series.

The Dodgers currently sit in second place in the NL West at 37-33, 1.5 games behind the division-leader Arizona Diamondbacks. The Cubs are tied with the Milwaukee Brewers for first place in the NL Central at 40-28.
