Dodgers Injury News: Andrew Toles Suffered Setback In Recovery From Hamstring Injury

While the Los Angeles Dodgers were eager to see Andrew Toles back on the field, the club was cautious with their handling of him during Spring Training. But with that, Toles and the organization maintained he made a full recovery from last year’s ACL surgery.

Toles had an encouraging showing in Cactus League play, successfully testing his surgically-repaired knee in the outfield and on the basepaths on multiple occasions. Toles finished the spring batting .283/.286/.566 with four doubles, one triple, three home runs and 10 RBI in 25 games.

However, his starts were few and far between as the exhibition schedule wound to a close. Toles subsequently began the season with Triple-A Oklahoma City so that he could receive regular playing time.

That was halted last month when the 25-year-old was placed on the Minor League disabled list due to a hamstring injury. Prior to the roster move, Toles surmised he would only miss a couple days.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts estimated Toles would be sidelined for a couple weeks. That projection has come and gone, and it doesn’t appear Toles is anywhere near a return because of a setback, according to Pedro Moura of The Athletic:

A week or so ago, Andrew Toles suffered a setback in his return from injury, Dave Roberts said. He is not on the radar to return anytime soon, the manager said.

Before the injury, Toles was hitting .462/.500/.731 with a home run and seven RBI in his first six games of the season. He hit safely in all six contest, had three multi-hit games and led Oklahoma City with 12 hits.

At this rate, it may not be until after the All-Star break that the Dodgers are moved to call up Toles, who provided a spark for the club in 2015.
