Dodgers News: Corey Seager Feeling ‘More Comfortable’ At The Plate

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager is slowly but surely returning to form after a rough start to his 2018 season. That was particularly evident against the San Diego Padres on Wednesday, when Seager recorded four hits in six trips to the plate.

The soon-to-be 24-year-old doubled twice and additionally drew a walk while tallying a season-best three RBI in the game. That performance improved his slash line to .254/.321/.338 on the year, and added more than 100 points to Seager’s on-base plus slugging as a result.

Seager revealed he was more settled in, which enabled him to put better swings on the ball, per Bill Plunkett of the Southern California News Group:

“I don’t know. But tonight was good,” Seager said when asked what might have triggered him. “Just for whatever reason, I got a little more comfortable and put better, consistent swings on it.”

The Dodgers, as a whole, have been swinging the bats better as of late. That’s without significant production from Seager, who recently said he is still working to get his swing right.

Despite this, there are encouraging signs that Seager may be turning a corner. He is noticeably hitting the ball harder, so it’s only a matter of time before more balls in play start falling for hits.

Seager enters play on Friday with a four-game hitting streak. Dating back to April 10, he has recorded a hit in seven of his last eight contests. During that span, Seager is 11-for-his-last-37 (.298) with three doubles, one home run and six RBI.
