Dodgers News: Rich Hill To Start Saturday Against Giants

The Los Angeles Dodgers schedule was shaken up a little bit as their game on Friday night against the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park was postponed due to rain.

In addition to Friday’s game being postponed, the start time for Saturday’s game was pushed back by two hours to 3:05 p.m. PT because there is more rain on the forecast for Saturday morning.

The rainout game on Friday will not be made up until April 28 though, so the Dodgers series in San Francisco this weekend will only be two games.

Kenta Maeda was scheduled to start Friday’s game, but instead of pushing him back a day to start Saturday, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has instead decided to go with Rich Hill as his starter, with Clayton Kershaw starting on Sunday, via Alanna Rizzo of SportsNet LA:

With Maeda being skipped over, it is possible that he will be available out of the bullpen on Saturday, although with all of the team’s relievers having both Thursday and Friday off, it is unlikely that they would need him.

Saturday will mark Hill’s second start of the season, with both of them coming against the Giants. Hill was outstanding against San Francisco in his first start, tossing six shutout innings while giving up five hits and three walks, striking out five.

The way the rotation is shaping up, it will be some combination of Maeda, Alex Wood and Hyun-Jin Ryu starting the Dodgers two games against the Oakland Athletics when they return home on Tuesday and Wednesday.
