Entering the second month of the regular season, the Los Angeles Dodgers were still looking to get on track. The team was only slightly above .500 and to that point were failing to meet expectations.

In a season that wound up being filled with countless comebacks, Cody Bellinger and Austin Barnes played the role of heroes on May 9. The Pittsburgh Pirates were in town on what was Mexican Heritage Night at Dodger Stadium.

Julio Urias was on the mound for his third start of the season, and he turned in his best outing of what was an injury-shortened 2017. Urias completed six no-hit innings, with each out sending Chavez Ravine into more of a frenzy.

Up to that point, the difference in the game was a Yasmani Grandal two-run home run, which came during the fourth inning. Then, the Pirates mounted a late rally.

Andrew McCutchen broke up Urias’ no-hitter with a leadoff ground-rule double to left field in the seventh inning. Unfortunately, the play also resulted in Andrew Toles suffering a torn ACL as he went sliding into the wall on his effort to preserve the no-hit bid.

Urias later surrendered a double to Francisco Cervelli, which marked the end of the road. Sergio Romo took over and allowed a game-tying RBI single to Max Moroff.

The Pirates then took a 3-2 lead in the eighth inning behind a John Jaso solo home run. Down to their final two outs, the Dodgers went to work. Corey Seager and Justin Turner connected on back-to-back singles.

Cody Bellinger snuck a grounder through the right side for an RBI base hit that forced the game into extra innings. After Kenley Jansen shut down the Pirates in the top of the 10th, Grandal led off the bottom half of the inning with a single.

He was immediately replaced by pinch-runner Ross Stripling. Then with two outs, Austin Barnes slapped a double to right-center field. Stripling showed off his athleticism by scoring the winning run from first base to give the Dodgers a thrilling walk-off win.
