Dodgers Video: Yasiel Puig Hits Home Run In Comeback Win Against Rockies

The Colorado Rockies held a mini celebration less than 30 minutes before first pitch against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday night. With the Milwaukee Brewers losing, the Rockies were postseason bound for the first time since 2009.

The Rockies then jumped on Clayton Kershaw to take a 3-0 lead in the second inning. Yasiel Puig’s walk and Chase Utley’s base hit led to the Dodgers scratching a run across in the third on Chris Taylor’s groundout.

Still chasing the Rockies by two runs in the fifth, Puig went opposite field for a game-tying home run off German Marquez. The homer was Puig’s 28 this season, extending his career high. It was also his second home run in the past three games.

Since being benched consecutive games, Puig is 5-for-11 with five runs scored, one double, two home runs and four RBI in three starts.

He was hit by a pitch to lead off the seventh inning and later scored the go-ahead run on Taylor’s second RBI groundout of the game. Then in the ninth, Puig led off with a single and raced around the bases to bring in an insurance run on Chase Utley’s double to the right-center field gap.

The Dodgers set a Los Angeles franchise record by winning their 103rd game this season. The victory would’ve guaranteed them home-field advantage through the World Series, which was cemented by the Cleveland Indians losing.
