Dodgers News: Josh Ravin Placed On 60-Day Disabled List

The Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday placed Josh Ravin on the 60-day disabled list (retroactive to Sept. 18) with an abdomen strain. It was a corresponding move needed on the 40-man roster for the club to reinstate Brandon McCarthy from the 60-day DL.

Ravin last pitched Sept. 17, when he allowed three runs on two hits, both of which were home runs, and issued one walk in an inning of work against the Washington Nationals. He appeared in 14 games this season over three stints with the Dodgers, going 0-1 with a save, 6.48 ERA and 1.26 WHIP.

Ravin was 4-0 with two saves, a 4.33 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 55 strikeouts in 35.1 innings pitched across 30 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City. He was recalled Aug. 22 when a sprained ankle forced Cody Bellinger to the disabled list.

The right-hander was among the several Dodgers who began the 2017 season on the disabled list. Ravin felt tightness in his groin in mid-March and aggravated the injury during a bullpen session.

He was reinstated from the DL on May 11 and optioned to Oklahoma City. That came after four rehab appearances, split between High-A Rancho Cucamonga and OKC.

Last year, Ravin suffered a broken left forearm during Spring Training and served an 80-game suspension for a positive PED test. He had 13 strikeouts and allowed just one run in 9.2 innings in 10 games with the Dodgers.
