The Los Angeles Dodgers traded Minor League relief pitcher Jacob Rhame to the New York Mets to complete the deal for Curtis Granderson. The parameters called for the Dodgers to send a player to be named later or cash considerations in exchange for the veteran outfielder.
Rhame was selected by the Dodgers in the sixth round of the 2013 Draft. He went 1-2 with a 4.58 ERA in 20 games with Rookie-level Ogden in his debut season. Rhame has since spent time with High-A Rancho Cucamonga, Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City.
He went 0-2 with two saves and 4.31 ERA over 41 games this season with OKC. In 210 games across four seasons with the Dodgers organization, he was 10-18 with 29 saves, a 3.11 ERA and 1.09 WHIP.
Rhame’s best season came in 2014 with the Loons, when he went 5-4 with a 2.01 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, and 90 strikeouts against 14 walks in 67 innings across 51 games.
The Dodgers added Rhame to their 40-man roster last winter to protect against potentially losing him in the Rule 5 Draft.
Rhame received a non-roster invitation to Spring Training this year and allowed a combined eight runs on six hits in three innings over four Cactus League appearances. The right-hander did not rank among the upper-echelon of Dodgers pitching prospects.
