Preview: Dodgers Look To Capitalize On Julio Teheran’s Home Run Problem

The Los Angeles Dodgers began a nine-game road trip by extending their winning streak to nine games, which further added to a growing list of historic accomplishments. The Dodgers have now produced winning streaks of nine, 10 and 11 games this season.

According to Stats LLC., the feat was reached only one other time in franchise history, when the 1890 Brooklyn Bridegrooms had winning streaks of 11, nine and nine games. No other Dodgers team has had three separate 10-game winning streaks in a single season.

What’s more, the Dodgers extended their Major League record of wins in games they held a lead to 53.

Brock Stewart takes the mound Wednesday night at SunTrust Park for his second start and eight game this season. He was inserted into the rotation last week against the Minnesota Twins.

Working on a pitch count, he only managed to go 3.2 innings in part due to sloppy defense. Five runs scored with Stewart on the mound, though none of them were earned. He’s recorded one save this year, has yet to allow an earned run, has a 0.84 WHIP and 12 strikeouts 16.2 innings.

Stewart is again operating under a pitch count, though it’s increased from the 50-60 target in his last start.

Julio Teheran looks to cool of a Dodgers team he faces a second time in the past two weeks. Teheran allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits, including three home runs, over 6.1 innings pitched at Dodger Stadium.

Teheran also surrendered three home runs in his last outing, giving him 26 on the season which is just one shy of matching a career high. The right-hander is 7-9 with a 5.09 ERA, 5.75 FIP and 1.41 WHIP in 21 starts.

Pitching at SunTrust Park hasn’t correlated to success for Teheran, as he’s just 1-7 with a 7.05 ERA while allowing 13 home runs in 52.1 innings. Corey Seager is a career 3-for-9 with three home runs off Teheran.

Yasiel Puig is 5-for-10 with a home run, Chase Utley is 7-for-28 with a homer, Logan Forsythe is 3-for-5 and also has a home run, Yasmani Grandal is 6-for-13 with three doubles, and Joc Pederson is 4-for-13.

Chris Taylor makes his ninth start this season in the three-hole of the Dodgers lineup. He went 1-for-4 with an RBI double in the series opener against the Braves. Cody Bellinger, who slugged his 29th home run of the year on Tuesday, once again is in the cleanup spot.

Nick Markakis is two hits shy of reaching 2,000 for his career. He would become the 10th active player and fourth outfielder to reach the milestone.

SS: Corey Seager
LF: Chris Taylor
1B: Cody Bellinger
