Dodgers Video: Corey Seager Caps Off 4-Run Inning To Beat Giants

While the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants have gone in drastically different directions this season, the Giants arrived at Dodger Stadium on Friday having won six of 10 head-to-head meetings.

They Dodgers appeared poised for a fifth win in the season series, as Alex Wood scattered four hits and allowed just one run — on a Brandon Crawford homer — through the first six innings. That allowed the Dodgers to take a slim 2-1 lead.

The seventh spelled trouble for Wood, however, with leadoff single cashed in by Jae-Gyun Hwang’s RBI base hit to tie the game. Nick Hundley followed with an RBI double to give the Giants their first lead on the night.

Matters worsened for Wood as Gorkys Hernandez drove a go-ahead, RBI double over Joc Pederson’s head in center field. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts stuck with his southpaw, who responded by retiring the next two batters faced to end the inning.

True to form, the Dodgers mounted a rally. Austin Barnes led off the bottom of the seventh with a walk, and two batters later Pederson doubled to put the tying runs in scoring position with one out.

George Kontos replaced Moore and got pinch-hitter Yasiel Puig to ground out but that scored a run. Chris Taylor’s RBI double tied it, and Corey Seager’s two-run blast put the Dodgers ahead for good. The home run was Seager’s second of the game, giving him six career multi-homer efforts.

Los Angeles extended their winning streak to six games, earned a 30th comeback win this season and extended their MLB record streak of consecutive wins while holding a lead to 50.
