ESPN announced the Aug. 6 game at Citi Field between the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets was added to their weekly Sunday Night Baseball programming and will be nationally televised. As such, first pitch has been changed from 10:10 a.m. PT to 5:10 p.m. PT.
The contest is the sixth game of a 10-game road trip for the Dodgers. Dan Shulman will call the game he’ll be joined by analysts Jessica Mendoza and Aaron Boone and reporter Buster Olney.
Sunday Night Baseball broadcasts are also available on ESPN Radio, ESPN Deportes, ESPN Deportes Radio, ESPN International platforms and streaming through the WatchESPN. The network recently announced the Dodgers’ July 30 home game against the Giants was added to the Sunday Night Baseball schedule.
The Dodgers swept the Mets in a four-game set at Dodger Stadium during June. Los Angeles outscored New York, 36-11, during the series.
Tempers flared in the third game after Yasiel Puig hit a three-run home run, which he watched for a brief moment before breaking into his home run trot.
Puig’s jog around the bases was neither quick nor painstakingly slow, but Mets infielder Wilmer Flores nonetheless took exception. Flores shouted in Puig’s direction as he rounded first base, and Jose Reyes and Travis d’Arnaud also had words for Puig.
Yoenis Cespedes had what appeared to be a relatively cordial conversation with Puig between innings. Reyes later said he believed Puig had “problems” if he wasn’t able to recognize why his actions were the root of conflict.
Recent history between the two teams stems from Chase Utley’s hard slide into second base during Game 2 of the National League Division Series. The Dodgers won two of three games at Citi Field last season.
