Retired Los Angeles Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully received the Icon Award on Wednesday at the 25th annual ESPY Awards. He was presented the award by five-time Emmy-winning actor Bryan Cranston.

Having last said it in May when he was inducted into the Ring of Honor at Dodger Stadium, Scully began his acceptance speech with his iconic, “Hi, everybody, and a very pleasant good evening to you,” greeting. Scully went on to thank Cranston for flying to Los Angeles from New York for the sole purpose of presenting him with the award.

Cranston was set to immediately return to the East Coast. “I don’t have a relative in the world who would make that kind of a trip,” Scully quipped.

Scully retired last October after 67 seasons in the booth, walking away as the longest-tenured broadcaster with a single sports franchise. His remarkable career stretched from Brooklyn to Los Angeles, and included several moments on the national stage across various sports.

In addition to recently being inducted into the Dodger Stadium Ring of Honor and receiving the Icon Award, Scully last December was bestowed a Presidential Medal of Freedom, which is the highest-ranking award a civilian can receive.

Scully joined former New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter (2015), retired Los Angeles Lakers guard and five-time champion Kobe Bryant (2016), retired Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning (2016) and retired Olympic gold medalist Amy Wambach (2016) in receiving the Icon Award.
