The Los Angeles Dodgers reinstated Sergio Romo from the 10-day disabled list and optioned Josh Fields to Triple-A Oklahoma City prior to Monday’s series opener against the New York Mets.

Romo returns one day after he was eligible to come off the DL. He’d been sidelined due to a sprained left ankle that was considered a minor injury. Romo made rehab appearances with High-A Rancho Cucamonga on June 14 and 16.

He allowed a combined one run on three hits, and had two strikeouts in three innings. Romo’s first rehab game was a perfect inning with two strikeouts.

He’s 1-1 with 6.41 ERA, 5.41 FIP, 1.37 WHIP, 23 strikeouts against nine walks, and five home runs allowed in 24 games (19.2 innings) with the Dodgers.

Romo’s 2.3 home runs per nine innings would be a career-worst mark, and his 14.3 percent fly ball/home run rate would be fourth-worst.

Fields heads to Oklahoma City after surrendering a combined five home runs in four of his past five. Included in that was allowing a homer in three consecutive relief appearances. Prior to that point, the right-hander had allowed just one home run 22.1 innings over 16 games.

Fields sported a 1.92 ERA in April and a 0.63 ERA in May, but that rose to 11.12 in just six games during June. Overall this season, he’s 3-0 with one save, a 3.00 ERA, 4.54 FIP 1.04 WHIP in 27 games.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts is hopeful the 31-year-old will “reset” during his time with Oklahoma City. It’s a sentiment Roberts expressed when the club optioned Ross Stripling, who’d also hit a rough patch of late.

Fields was optioned to OKC on April 29, though didn’t pitch for or report to the affiliate, as he rejoined the Dodgers two days later to replace an injured Hyun-Jin Ryu on the active roster.
