The Los Angeles Dodgers optioned Ross Stripling to Triple-A Oklahoma City and recalled Josh Ravin prior to Friday’s series opener against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park.
Stripling last pitched Thursday, allowing four runs in 1.2 innings. Three of the runs came via a home run that he immediately surrendered after replacing Rich Hill in the fifth inning. It was a second consecutive relief appearance in which Stripling allowed at least three runs.
Prior to that point he pitched to a 2.51 ERA and had 37 strikeouts in 32.1 innings across 19 games. Overall this season, Stripling owns a 4.00 ERA and 1.36 WHIP, while filling a variety of roles for the Dodgers.
He joins Oklahoma City for the first time this year. Last season, he went 0-2 with a 3.78 ERA in five Triple-A games (four starts).
Ravin joins the Dodgers a second time this season, though he’s yet to pitch for the club. The 29-year-old was recalled May 21 as a corresponding move when Julio Urias was optioned to Oklahoma City.
Ravin was sent back to Oklahoma City on May 23 to clear room for Logan Forsythe’s return from the disabled list. The right-handed reliever was 3-0 with one save and a 7.94 ERA in 11 games with OKC.
Ravin’s ERA is inflated due to a pair of games in which he allowed four runs. He otherwise held opponents to one run or less in his other nine appearances. Ravin began the season on the disabled list because of a groin strain. He was reinstated and optioned to Oklahoma City on May 11.
