The Los Angeles Dodgers had four players appear on the first MLB All-Star Game voting update, led by Corey Seager. He paced all National League shortstops with 399,347 votes. Chicago Cubs shortstop Addison Russell is in second place with 379,640, while Zack Cosart of the Cincinnati Reds trails by over 150,000 votes.
With 220,029 votes, Justin Turner is third among players at his position. Ahead of Turner are Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant (632,900) and Nolan Arenado of the Colorado Rockies (392,051).
Yasmani Grandal placed fifth at the catcher’s position with 127,844 votes. San Francisco Giants backstop Buster Posey holds a steady lead over others with 559,248 votes.
Yasiel Puig received 125,149 votes and is 14th among outfielders. Washington Nationals outfielder and 2015 NL MVP Bryce Harper led all players in the league 900,079 votes.
The Dodgers had Clayton Kershaw, Kenley Jansen and Seager named to the 2016 All-Star Game. The Cubs were represented by five players, including starters Bryant, Rizzo, Russell and Ben Zobrist.
This is the third straight year the All-Star Game ballot is being conducted exclusively online. Fans can cast their votes for All-Star Game starters a total of 35 times. A maximum of five ballots can be cast within a 24-hour period.
Once voting for NL and American League All-Star starters is complete, fans will have the opportunity to vote for the final player on each roster from a final group of five in each league.
