While the Los Angeles Dodgers placed Justin Turner on the 10-day disabled list because of a hamstring injury, the silver lining was his strain was considered the most-mild in severity (Grade 1).

Turner recently said he was progressing better than expected. He’s eligible to be reinstated Monday, but will first join one of the Dodgers Minor League affiliates for a rehab assignment.

When Turner goes out on his rehab and how many games it will last have not yet been determined. “We’re not going to rush him,” manager Dave Roberts said.

Los Angeles begins a seven-game road trip on Monday, with series against the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers, and Turner is with the club.

“I don’t know when he’ll be active, but we want him around our medical staff,” Roberts said. The second-year manager had previously projected a return for Turner was plausible near the end of the road trip.

“It’s really contingent on how he feels,” Roberts said. Turner returned from a similar injury in 2014 on the first day he was eligible to come off the 15-day disabled list.

Turner fielded grounders at third base prior to Saturday’s game. He’s done some light running and also began taking swings in the batting cage. Turner is batting .379/.453/.493 with 13 doubles, one home run, 17 RBI, a .414 wOBA and 160 wRC+ in 39 games this season.
