The Los Angeles Dodgers claimed Justin Marks off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays, and transferred Andre Ethier to the 60-day disabled list to create room of the left-handed reliever on their 40-man roster.

Marks will be assigned to Triple-A Oklahoma City. He was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the third round of the 2009 Draft. Marks went on to make his MLB debut with the Kansas City Royals in 2014, though only appeared in one game.

The 29-year-old pitched in four games for the Rays in 2016, and once this season. He owns a combined 3.65 ERA, 6.94 FIP, 2.11 WHIP, 13 walks an nine strikeouts in 12.1 Major League innings.

Over parts of nine seasons in the Minors, Marks has a lifetime 4.56 ERA and 1.41 WHIP. The lefty went 4-1 with a 4.60 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 15 strikeouts in 15.2 innings, and held opponents to a .182/.297/.255 batting line in nine games (one start).

After throwing 1.1 innings in relief for the Rays on May 5, Marks was designated for assignment the following day so Tampa Bay could reinstate Erasmo Ramirez from the paternity list.

While Ethier is now on the 60-day DL, it does not impact or delay his timeline. At best, the veteran outfielder is expected to return at some point in June.
