When Vin Scully announced his intention to retire after the 2016 season it put an official, sobering end point on his fairytale career with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Scully expanded his travel scheduled ever so slightly for his 67th and final year in the broadcast booth.
He made the trip to San Diego to call Opening Day, and also joined the Dodgers in Anaheim during the Freeway Series. But most notably, Scully made the decision to call the Dodgers’ final three regular-season games against the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park.
It was a fitting end to his career as Scully grew up a self-described ‘rabid Giants fan’ in New York. Throughout the prolonged goodbye for the game’s greatest broadcaster, Scully remained adamant the Dodgers and overall sport would carry on just fine without him.
While the 88-year-old has largely remained in the background since his final broadcast on Oct. 2, Scully is expected to attend Game 5 of the National League Division Series, per Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports:
Legendary Vin Scully, voice of the #Dodgers, plans to attend Game 5 of the NLCS for his first visit to Dodger Stadium since his retirement.

The public appearance will be Scully’s second since he retired. The Hall of Fame broadcaster recently was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Dodgers president and CEO Stan Kasten said he plans to meet with Scully to devise a plan to keep him involved with the organization.
