By the time the Los Angeles Dodgers got their first look at the Arizona Diamondbacks this season, the pitching matchups didn’t align so that Los Angeles faced Zack Greinke. That took some steam out of the Dodgers’ first home series of 2016.

Greinke was on the mound when the Diamondbacks welcomed the Dodgers to Chase Field on June 14 for the start of a three-game series. He allowed two runs on seven hits and had six strikeouts in seven innings.

Greinke allowed a home run to Corey Seager, but earned a win in the Diamondbacks’ 3-2 victory. Greinke’s results were drastically different in his first visit to Dodger Stadium since signing a six-year, $206.5 million contract with the Diamondbacks in the offseason.

He surrendered a career-high five home runs and was chased in the fifth inning after allowing eight runs on nine hits. On Friday, Greinke got a second look at the Dodgers in the past 11 days.

The right-hander got off to an ominous start as Chase Utley doubled on the first pitch of the game. Two batters later, Justin Turner hit an RBI triple:

Turner at that point improved to 4-for-8 with one double, one triple, one home run and three RBI against his former teammate. Greinke labored through six innings, allowing three runs, walking four, and suffering the loss.
