During the offseason the Los Angeles Dodgers added to their revamped front office under president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman by hiring the highly-regarded Alex Anthopoulos. He joined the organization under the newly created vice president of baseball operations position.

With Anthopoulos in the fold, the Dodgers front office at that point boasted former general managers Friedman, Josh Byrnes, Ned Colletti, current GM Farhan Zaidi, and well as Gabe Kapler, among others. The diverse group quickly garnered the reputation for being the most diverse collection of executives.

Shortly after being hired Anthopoulos said he envisioned himself remaining in Los Angeles for several years, particularly when considering his wife and young children also relocated.

That didn’t prevent the Minnesota Twins from reportedly having interest in Anthopoulos for their president of baseball operations vacancy.

But according to Mike Berardino of Twincities.com, Anthopoulos is no longer a candidate for the position:

Former Toronto Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos is out of the running for the top baseball operations position with the Twins, according to two people with direct knowledge.

Prior to joining the Dodgers, Anthopoulos spent the past six seasons as the Blue Jays’ general manager. After constructing a club that won the American League East division and made its first postseason appearance in 22 years he was named Sporting News’ MLB Executive of the Year in 2015.

The 39-year-old rejected an contract extension from the Blue Jays and surprisingly left the team just one week after they were eliminated by the Kansas City Royals in the postseason.

While the Dodgers’ front office has been under a lot of scrutiny in Friedman’s tenure, the club has overcome a record number of injuries and are in line to win a fourth consecutive National League West division title.
