The Los Angeles Dodgers organization had another prospect receive Minor League honors as Triple-A Oklahoma City outfielder O’Koyea Dickson was named Pacific Coast League Player of the Week for Aug. 29-Sept. 5.
During the week Dickson scored five runs, collected 13 hits, including three home runs, and had 10 RBIs. The 26-year-old led OKC and the PCL with five multi-hit games, including three three-hit games over the same span.
In 101 games played this season, Dickson is batting .328/.398/.596 with 18 home runs, 26 doubles and 64 RBIs. His 18 home runs and .328 batting average are career highs.
The Dodgers selected Dickson in the 12th round of the 2011 Draft. This is his second year in the Triple-A level.
Oklahoma City won six of their final seven regular-season games and clinched a second consecutive American Northern Division title.
They were buoyed by Jose De Leon, who was named PCL Pitcher of the Week for Aug. 22-28, and has since joined the Dodgers. Trevor Oaks won the weekly honor for games played Aug. 15-21.
Oklahoma City begins their first-round matchup against Nashville Sounds (Oakland Athletics affiliate) on Wednesday. Games 1 and 2 will be played at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, with series shifting to Nashville for Game 3 and if necessary Games 4 and 5.
Game 1 will be started by Scott Kazmir as he takes the mound in his first rehab assignment since landing on the disabled list with neck inflammation. Kazmir is expected to throw six innings or 90 pitches.
He’ll join the Dodgers during their road series against the New York Yankees if Wednesday’s start goes well.
