For the second time in as many starts, Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Brett Anderson was removed early due to an apparent injury. Anderson exited with none out in the fourth inning on Saturday after a pitch sailed to the backstop.

It was the second time Anderson lost control of a pitch in the game. He was checked on by a trainer and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, with the focus on Anderson’s left index finger. The Dodgers later announced he was removed with a blister on the finger.

Coming off a mild left wrist sprain, Anderson’s night got off to a rough start. The first five batters reached safely, with the Reds jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning.

Cincinnati tacked on another run in the second, and Anderson was responsible for the runner on second base when he was replaced by Grant Dayton. If Anderson’s status is affected moving forward, the Dodgers will again need to shuffle the deck in their rotation.

Prior to Saturday’s game, Roberts named him one of the probables for the upcoming series with the San Francisco Giants.

Blister issues have delayed Rich Hill’s debut with the Dodgers on three separate occasions. He’s slated to start Tuesday.

The Dodgers are already without Brandon McCarthy, who again is on the disabled list, and so is Hyun-Jin Ryu, though the southpaw isn’t expected to return this season.
