In the time that’s led up to Monday’s non-wavier trade deadline, there’s been a mixture of teams openly selling and others who are believed to have been open for business but not completely set on throwing in the towel this season.

That describes the Colorado Rockies, who fielded interest on All-Star Carlos Gonzalez. The Los Angeles Dodgers were expected to inquire on Gonzalez as part of their search to land a slugging outfielder.

In 100 games this season, the 30-year-old is batting .317/.370/.550 with 24 doubles, 21 home runs and 66 RBIs. Gonzalez’s contract runs through next season, when he is owed $20 million before becoming eligible fore free agency.

After it was reported the Rockies were hesitant to trade Gonzalez within the National League West, the club has now decided to pull him and Charlie Blackmon off the trading block, per Jon Heyman of Today’s Knuckleball:

Teams looking for outfield help will no longer have the Colorado Rockies on their radars. Sources tell Today’s Knuckleball that the Rockies are intent on keeping outfielders Carlos Gonzalez and Charlie Blackmon in Colorado.

The Rockies have gone a Major League-best 12-4 since the All-Star break, which has propelled them back into the Wild Card race. They enter Sunday 52-52 and just four games back of the Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals for the second wild card spot.

While the Dodgers were linked to Gonzalez in some regard, their focus appears to be on Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jay Bruce.
