Dodgers Rumors: L.A. Expected To Be In Mix For Potential Rich Hill Trade

With just two weeks remaining until the non-waiver trade deadline, the rumor mill is beginning to heat up. Per usual, the Los Angeles Dodgers are among the teams expected to be active, and indications are the club is searching for a starting pitcher.

Last month the Dodgers were said to have Julio Teheran of the Atlanta Braves and Sonny Gray of the Oakland Athletics among their top targets. More recently, Los Angeles was linked to Tampa Bay Rays starting pitchers, and reportedly were among the teams to inquire on Arizona Diamondbacks righty Shelby Miller.

In addition, coinciding with their interest in Athletics southpaw Rich Hill previously being reported, Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports, names the Dodgers among the teams who are likely to be involved in a potential trade for the 36-year-old:

Expected to be in the bidding, according to sources, are the usual subjects: Boston, Texas, Baltimore, Toronto and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

In 14 starts this season Hill is 9-3 with a 2.25 ERA, 2.55 FIP and 1.09 WHIP. The left-hander has struck out 90 and walked 28 over 76 innings pitched. There are some concerns surrounding Hill though, as he has dealt with blister issues that pushed a start back, and then he left the outing on Sunday after throwing just five pitches.

How aggressively the Dodgers pursue Hill and other starting pitchers is presumably tied to Hyun-Jin Ryu’s ability to remain healthy and whether Brett Anderson and Alex Wood can both return from the disabled list.
