The Los Angeles Dodgers conclude their sixth homestand of the 2016 season with a three-game series against the Washington Nationals that kicks off Monday night with quite the pitching matchup.
Clayton Kershaw looks to do his part in extending the Dodgers’ three-game winning streak, while Stephen Strasburg enters 10-0 with a 2.90 ERA, 2.83 FIP and 1.06 WHIP in 14 starts this season. The right-hander has earned a win in six road starts, posting a 2.11 ERA in those outings.
Kershaw leads the Majors in strikeouts (133), shutouts (two) and innings pitched, among other categories. He’s 6-1 with a 1.31 ERA in seven starts at Dodger Stadium this season.
Kershaw faced the Nationals twice in 2015, going 2-0 with 22 strikeouts to zero walks over 16 scoreless innings. Monday’s 7:10 p.m. PT game is a national broadcast that will be carried by ESPN.
The first 40,000 fans in attendance will receive a cooler backpack presented by your SoCal Honda Dealers.
Tuesday’s matchup is a duel between Tanner Roark and Scott Kazmir. The Nationals’ righty is 6-4 with a 3.14 ERA, and has allowed at least four runs in two of his past three starts. Kazmir, saddled by first-inning trouble throughout the year, is 5-3 with a 4.64 ERA.
