The Los Angeles Dodgers had an eventful bottom half of the third inning in Saturday’s 10-6 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.
Mike Bolsinger got off to a tough start out of the gate as he put the team in a 5-2 hole while failing to complete so much as three innings of work. It became apparent he wasn’t pitching at 100 percent, and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after the game Bolsinger was suffering from cramping.
Despite the deficit they faced, Los Angeles responded in a major way. After Joc Pederson led off the bottom of the third with a double, Corey Seager walked, which set the table for Justin Turner, who’s been on a tear at the plate.
Turner’s hot stretch continued as he hit a three-run home run to left field to tie the game. The scoring did not end there however, as the Dodgers proceeded to take a lead on a two-run double by Yasmani Grandal.
Chris Hatcher, who relieved Bolsinger in the top half of the inning, connected for an RBI single. The base hit and RBI were the first of his career. Impressive as the outburst was, it paled in comparison to Clayton Kershaw showing off an unusual skill:
Kershaw takes the mound Monday night against the Washington Nationals. The series opener is a marquee pitching matchup as Washington starts Stephen Strasburg.
