In addition to groundbreaking news of MLB The Show 21 coming to Xbox, this year’s version of the successful franchise features a Collector’s Edition with Jackie Robinson on the cover. San Diego Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr. is the cover athlete for the standard version.

The Jackie Robinson Edition is available for preorder now and includes early access to the game beginning on April 16 — four days prior to the general release. That also comes the day after MLB’s annual recognition of Jackie Robinson Day.

There are three versions available with the Brooklyn Dodgers icon on the cover: Jackie Robinson Deluxe Edition ($99.99), Digital Deluxe Edition ($99.99) and Jackie Robinson Edition ($84.99). The Deluxe Edition comes with a New Era cap, speciality digital cap and bat skin, and more in-game features.

PlayStation is donating $1 to the Jackie Robinson Foundation for every Collector’s Edition sold in the United States through 2021.

Those proceeds will be used to establish the JRF MLB The Show Scholars program in partnership with PlayStation. Scholars in the program will receive four-year scholarships and support services. Information on applying to be a JRF MLB The Show Scholar will be announced in November.

Lux participated in MLB The Show Players League

As the fate of the 2020 regular season hung in the balance, the MLB Players Association and Sony Interactive Entertainment partnered for the creation of the MLB The Show Players League. It featured one player from every club, with Gavin Lux representing the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Lux finished 19-10 and qualified for the playoffs via the eighth and final spot. Ironically, he was eliminated by Blake Snell, who went 24-5 and finished one game ahead of the Texas Rangers’ Joey Gallo for the No. 1 overall seed.

Lux found early success and got off to a 12-4 start before scuffling a bit down the stretch. He nonetheless finished two games ahead of Tatis Jr. for the best record in the National League West.

All of the games were live streamed, which brought out Justin Turner on multiple nights as he lent support to the Dodgers rookie.
