Details for the 2026 World Baseball Classic have been put into place, including stadiums that will host games, team pool arrangements and schedule for the sixth installment of the tournament.
The World Baseball Classic is sanctioned by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) as the sport’s official National Team World Championship.
In 2023, the WBC expanded to 20 teams for the first time in the tournament’s history. The 16 teams that finished within the top four of their respective first-round pools that year were invited to participate in the World Baseball Classic 2026.
The entire WBC bracket will be completed by four teams that advance from the the 2025 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. Details regarding the WBC Qualifiers scheduled for February and March 2025, including competing teams and locations, will be announced in the coming months.
Popularity and interest with the WBC significantly increased last year, which led to record TV ratings, attendance, and merchandise sales.
The World Baseball Classic was delayed to 2023 rather than being played in 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
