The 2026 MLB Draft begins Saturday, July 11, at 10 p.m. PT as part of All-Star Week festivities in Philadelphia. The first day of this year’s MLB Draft will air live on NBC and Peacock, with additional coverage being provided by MLB Network, MLB TV, MLB+ and MLB.com throughout the day.
Day 1 of the Draft consists of rounds 1-4, Prospect Promotion Incentive Picks, two Competitive Balance Rounds and a handful of compensation picks, totaling 135 selections.
From 10 a.m. through 11:30 a.m. PT, the first 10 picks will broadcast on NBC/Peacock. That’s going to be followed by picks 11-40 on MLB Network, MLB.com, MLB TV and MLB+ from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Finally, picks 41-135 will be available on MLB.com, MLB TV and MLB+ from 1:30-4:45 p.m. PT.
The order of the first six picks was determined by MLB’s annual Draft Lottery held at the Winter Meetings in December. The Chicago White Sox came away holding the No. 1 overall pick for the third time in franchise history.
The lottery system was recently introduced with the 2022-26 collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
Day 2 of the 2026 MLB Draft gets underway Sunday, July 12, at 8:30 a.m. PT and ends at 4:45 PT. The final 16 rounds will be covered on MLB.com, MLB TV and MLB+.
2026 Dodgers draft outlook
The Los Angeles Dodgers hold just six picks in the first 10 rounds, and a total of 16 selections overall in the 2026 MLB Draft. Their first selection won’t be until No. 40. Their first-round (No. 30) pick dropped 10 spots as a result of the team exceeding the second luxury tax threshold during the 2025 season.
Additionally, L.A. forfeited their picks in Rounds 2, 3, 5 and 6 as a penalty for signing Edwin Díaz and Kyle Tucker in free agency. Both players received qualifying offers from their previous teams before signing with the Dodgers.
The Dodgers’ bonus pool for the 2026 MLB Draft is $3,951,900. They enter the draft with the lowest bonus pool total in the league by virtue of losing four picks in the first 10 rounds. Bonus pools are calculated by adding the slot values of every pick through the first 10 rounds.
There are consequences for exceeding the allotment, including a 75% tax on any overage amount up to 5% over the pool. If a team goes over the 5%, they will lose their first-round pick in the next draft.
