The Milwaukee Brewers finalized their 26-man postseason roster for the National League Championship Series, electing to carry 12 pitchers and 14 position players against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Like the Dodgers, the Brewers made only change from their NL Division Series roster against the Chicago Cubs as they swapped out Nick Mears for Tobias Myers.
Mears made three appearances against the Cubs in the NLDS and threw 1.2 scoreless innings. He was a key reliever for manager Pat Murphy but the Brewers seemingly wanted to add a fresh arm to their bullpen in Myers.
Meanwhile, Rhys Hoskins was again left off the Brewers’ postseason roster. He hit .237/.332/.416 with 12 doubles, 12 home runs and 43 RBI during the regular season but has not appeared in a playoff game this year.
Brandon Woodruff was also left off the Brewers’ NLCS roster due to a right lat strain that has prevented him from pitching in a game since Sept. 17.
The Brewers and Dodgers are meeting for the third time in MLB postseason history, with their only previous matchups being the 2020 NL Wild Card Series and 2018 NLCS.
The Dodgers won both of those series en route to reaching the Fall Classic. However, they struggled against the Brewers this year and lost all six head-to-head meetings during the regular season.
L.A. is confident that they will be more competitive against Milwaukee this time around, largely due to several key players returning from injury over the last couple of months.
