The Los Angeles Dodgers selected right-handed pitcher Davion Hickson with their fifth round selection in the 2025 MLB Draft. Hickson was drafted by the Dodgers with the No. 165 overall pick, and it was the sixth overall selection they have made in this year’s Draft so far.

Hickson began his collegiate career at Florida State University, though only appeared in one game in 2023. He also is expected to transfer to Mississippi State for the 2026 season.

Hickson is a former reliever who converted to starting, and pitched to a 3.82 ERA with 90 strikeouts against 35 walks over 73 innings for Rice this year. Hickson had served as their closer last season.

He’s the third pitcher the Dodgers have drafted in 2025, and their fifth overall selection from the collegiate ranks.

The 165th pick holds a slot value of $737,000. The Dodgers have a bonus pool of $9,031,300 for the 2025 Draft, which is 24th among all teams.

Bonus pools are calculated by adding the slot values of every pick through the first 10 rounds. Any signing bonus amount more than $125,000 for draft picks after the 10th round also count against the pool money.
