The Los Angeles Dodgers made several moves at the July 30 trade deadline this season, including acquiring Tommy Edman in a three-team deal with the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago White Sox.

Edman spent the first five seasons of his career with the Cardinals and enjoyed success as a super utility player. He experienced playoff baseball in all of those seasons and is now doing so with the Dodgers.

In addition to being two of the most successful organizations over the last decade, the Dodgers and Cardinals are lauded for their fan support. “Both fanbases are really great, coming out to support. They know the game very well,” Edman explained.

“I think at Dodger Stadium, it’s a touch louder. I think just more fans and kind of a different type of environment in the stadium, a little more upbeat. I love both fanbases and I’ve enjoyed getting to know the Dodgers fanbase a little bit in just the past couple of months. It’s been a great experience here.”

Edman previously faced the Dodgers in the 2021 National League Division Series as a member of the Cardinals. He played in his first home postseason game at Dodger Stadium this week and was impressed with how loud the ballpark got.

“Every time I’ve come here when I was with St. Louis, I always noticed how loud it was. It definitely wasn’t a surprise, but it’s nice to be on this side of things,” Edman said.

Edman has helped spark the bottom of the Dodgers lineup through two NLDS games against the San Diego Padres as he is 3-for-7 with a run scored and two stolen bases.

Tommy Edman’s 2024 season with Dodgers

Edman did not make his Dodgers debut until Aug. 19 because of right wrist surgery and a sprained ankle suffered during his recovery, but still enjoyed plenty of success.

He hit .237/.294/.417 with five doubles, one triple, six home runs, 20 RBI, 20 runs scored and six stolen bases in 37 games while appearing at three different positions.
