2024 MLB Draft FAQ: How To Watch & Stream Online, Draft Order, Slot Values & Dodgers’ Bonus Pool Money

Coverage of the 2024 MLB Draft begins on Sunday, July 14, during All-Star Week in Dallas, Texas. Eighteen teams have seven-figure bonus pools, with the Los Angeles Dodgers holding $6,114,700 of bonus pool money for this year’s draft.

The first day of the 2024 MLB Draft is airing live on MLB Network, ESPN and available through ESPN+ via online stream. The feed can also be viewed on MLB.com.

Day 2 of the 2024 MLB Draft gets underway Monday, July 15, at 11 a.m. PT. Rounds 3-10 will be covered on ESPN+, MLB.com and the MLB app. The final rounds, Nos. 11-20, are being held Tuesday, July 16, at 11 a.m. PT with coverage on ESPN+, MLB.com and the MLB app.

The Dodgers bonus pool is down from their 2023 figure, but were able to stay under the third tier of the MLB luxury tax, allowing them to retain their No. 23 overall pick.

However, the Dodgers forfeited their second- and fifth-round picks due to signing Shohei Ohtani after he rejected the qualifying offer from the Los Angeles Angels. That in turn has placed in the lowest tier of teams with available bonus pool money for the 2024 MLB Draft.

The Dodgers made 22 selections in the 2023 MLB Draft.

Teams are able to spend over the draft bonus pool cap, but moves like that come with a tax to each dollar, similar to going over the standard competitive balance threshold with payroll.

There are consequences for exceeding the allotment, including a 75% tax on any overage amount up to 5% over the pool. If a team goes over the 5%, they will lose their first-round pick in the next Draft.
