The Los Angeles Dodgers have spent the majority of the year atop the National League West standings and are all but guaranteed a 12th consecutive postseason appearance.

However, as the final month of the 2024 season fast approaches, the Dodgers have seen their lead in the division significantly cut into by both the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres.

The Dodgers, Diamondbacks and Padres own three of the top eight records in all of baseball. Los Angeles has the most wins at 78, and are one game ahead of the New York Yankees in the overall MLB standings.

Dodgers standings update

Diamondbacks

After being swept by the Tampa Bay Rays, the Diamondbacks turned their road trip around with respective series sweeps of the Miami Marlins and Boston Red Sox.

Arizona went into Monday’s off day trailing the Dodgers by three games in the NL West standings despite their current winning streak.

The week ahead for the Diamondbacks includes hosting the New York Mets before welcoming the Dodgers to Chase Field for what’s shaped up to be a pivotal wraparound series that concludes Sept. 2.

Dodgers

The Dodgers also are off Monday before starting a series against the Baltimore Orioles to conclude their homestand. Baltimore, 76-56, is coming off a series split with the Houston Astros.

Following the Interleague matchup, the Dodgers will look to improve on their 4-5 record against the Diamondbacks this season. Included in that was taking two of three during their last visit to Chase Field.

Manager Dave Roberts recently said he and the Dodgers collectively are aware of the NL West standings as the division suddenly became a three-team race.

Padres

San Diego spent the past week at home and needed a walk-off win Sunday to finish above .500 during that stretch. Now the Padres begin a road trip that consists of series with the St. Louis Cardinals and Rays.
