The Los Angeles Dodgers punctuated their final home game of the 2024 regular season by defeating the San Diego Padres to win the first series in their head-to-head matchups this year, and that clinched the National League West title.

The Dodgers are NL West champions for an 11th time in the past 12 seasons, and with this year’s achievement have also secured a first-round bye in the expanded MLB postseason.

Game 1 of the NL Division Series is scheduled to be played at Dodger Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 5. Game 2 follows that Sunday.

The Dodgers are still in pursuit of the best record in baseball, which in turn would amount to facing the winner of the NL Wild Card Series between the Nos. 4 and 5 teams.

Should the Philadelphia Phillies end up with the best record in the NL, the Dodgers would face the winner of the Wild Card matchup between the Nos. 3 and 6 seeds.

2024 Dodgers attendance

Thursday’s game had an announced crowd of 52,433. It was the 20th sellout at Dodger Stadium this season.

Overall, Dodgers attendance for the 2024 season checked in at 3,941,251 that once again is most in the Majors. The team averaged 49,266 fans across 80 games in Shohei Ohtani’s history-making first season with the Dodgers.

The Dodgers missed one game of gate and other Dodger Stadium revenue because of playing the Seoul Series to begin the season.

Nevertheless, the Dodgers’ attendance this year was the second-highest total in Dodger Stadium history.

It trails only the 2019 season, when the Dodgers set a franchise record with a total Dodger Stadium attendance of 3,974,309 (49,066 average).

In July of this year, the Dodgers set the record for largest crowd to attend any MLB game in 2024 when they had an announced attendance of 54,070 for a matchup against the San Francisco Giants on Kiké Hernández bobblehead night.

The Dodgers exceed 3 million in home attendance for the 12th time in the past 14 seasons. The only exceptions were the pandemic-impacted 2020 season when fans were not permitted and in 2021 because of limited attendance being allowed for a portion of the schedule.

Fan interest this year traced back to 2024 Spring Training, as the Dodgers set a new record for highest average Camelback Ranch attendance.
