The Los Angeles Dodgers return to action on Saturday for Game 1 of the National League Division Series against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Dodger Stadium.

It marks just the second time the teams will meet in the postseason. L.A. previously swept Arizona in three games to win the 2017 NLDS en route to making the first of two consecutive World Series appearances.

The Diamondbacks punched their ticket for October baseball after finishing with a 84-78 record during the regular season to secure the No. 6 seed in the NL postseason bracket. They advanced to the second round of postseason play by sweeping the Milwaukee Brewers in the Wild Card Series.

As for the Dodgers, they captured their 10th NL West title in the last 11 seasons and reached the 100-win mark for the fifth time since 2017. They took eight of 13 head-to-head meetings against the Diamondbacks and outscored them 72-47.

Diamondbacks vs. Dodgers season review

March 30-April 2

The Dodgers opened the 2023 season with a four-game series against the Diamondbacks at Dodger Stadium. L.A. won the first matchup handily before dropping the second contest by one run after Kyle Lewis hit a go-ahead homer in the eighth inning.

The Dodgers bounced back with another blowout victory the next day, receiving three home runs from Trayce Thompson and another by J.D. Martinez. L.A. went on to lose the series finale by one run.

April 7-9

The Dodgers and Diamondbacks met again less than a week later for a four-game series at Chase Field. L.A. took the first game behind a strong start from Dustin May but then dropped the next three as they were outscored 29-17 and saw the Diamondbacks run wild on the bases.

August 8-9

The Dodgers and Diamondbacks wouldn’t face each other again for four months, but it was all L.A. when the teams returned to Chase Field in a brief two-game series.

The Dodgers held off a late rally by the Diamondbacks in the first matchup and then received six scoreless innings from Bobby Miller in the finale that led to a 2-0 win and series sweep.

August 28-30

The Dodgers and Diamondbacks played their final regular-season series in late August at Dodger Stadium. L.A. swept the three-game set in convincing fashion as they outscored Arizona, 23-5.

The Dodgers hit four home runs off Zac Gallen in the series opener, then saw Clayton Kershaw turn in five innings of one-run ball in the second matchup. L.A. cruised to a 7-0 win in the finale, propelled by strong outings from Ryan Pepiot and Ryan Yarbrough.
