The Arizona Diamondbacks announced their 26-man roster for the 2023 National League Division Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, making just one change by adding Kyle Nelson in place of Bryce Jarvis.
Nelson is a candidate to provide the Diamondbacks with some length out of the bullpen, along with another option to combat the Dodgers’ left-handed hitters. Nelson went 1-1 with 5.06 ERA and 1.88 WHIP in seven relief appearances against the Dodgers this season.
The Diamondbacks reached the NLDS by sweeping the Milwaukee Brewers in the Wild Card Series and are keeping with 14 position players and 12 pitchers on their postseason roster.
That’s different from the Dodgers, who opted for an even split of 13 pitchers and 13 position players.
Jake McCarthy remains off the roster after he was replaced for the Wild Card Series by Jace Peterson due to an injury.
MLB postseason rules state a player is unable to participate in the following round when they are replaced for injury reasons. McCarthy would be able to return if the Diamondbacks advance to the NL Championship Series.
Gabriel Moreno is on the Diamondbacks’ NLDS roster after suffering a head injury as a result of a backswing in the Wild Card-clinching victory on Wednesday. He was pulled from the game but passed all concussion tests and feels no lingering symptoms.
