The fourth day of the 2023 Los Angeles Dodgers Love L.A. Community Tour was the busiest of their week, and it opened with Chris Taylor and his wife Mary Keller Taylor joining a field trip to the Discovery Cube in Sylmar.

The couple accompanied 300 L.A. Unified School District students from the Northeast valley who went to the science museum to engage with different exhibits and learn about health and nutrition, meteorology, sustainability, and more.

“I’m excited,” Taylor said before beginning his tour of Discovery Cube Los Angeles. “I’ve never been here before, so everything looks really cool so far. I’m excited to learn with these kids.”

After staff members gave the students a presentation, Taylor was introduced to the kids before he joined in for a demonstration to teach them about momentum and inertia. With their experiment, Taylor was asked to hold a bowling ball tied to a string before he released it, which caused the ball to swing back and forth without hitting him.

From there, Taylor went to learn about nutrition with the students at a grocery market exhibit, where they were tasked with making the correct decisions on which items to choose.

Following that, Taylor went to the building’s theater, where a presentation on the use of microchips in dogs and understanding their behavior was discussed.

The final exhibit on the agenda taught Taylor and the students to make sure a home is sustainable and how to correct some of the common issues that can be found. Taylor was given an iPad and tasked with tracking down mistakes in the mock home, and he recruited a few students to help him out.

Before leaving the science center, Taylor signed autographs for many of the students and made a stop into a simulated tornado chamber.

At the same time of Taylor’s event, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts and Eric Karros joined women from the Alexandria House at California Pizza Kitchen in Manhattan Beach for a cooking class with Chef Paul.

Chris Taylor ready for 2023 season

As Taylor prepares for the regular season, he is feeling 100% healthy and ready to go. “It’s been good,” he said of offseason training.

“The last few weeks I’ve been working out at Dodger Stadium with some of our coaching staff over there. And a lot of guys are over there working out. It’s good to be back in the routine and I’m excited to head to Arizona in a couple weeks.”

After dealing with injuries in 2023, Taylor has not been affected this offseason and has prepared the same way he does every year.

“I’ve been working on my swing and working in the cage with the hitting coaches, taking ground balls and doing some outfield work with Dino Ebel,” he said. “And getting my work in the training room, making sure my body is 100%.”
