2022 MLB Field Of Dreams Game Dedicated To Vin Scully

The second annual MLB Field of Dreams Game returned to the famed site in Dyersville, Iowa, with a matchup between the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds. However, the Los Angeles Dodgers were involved by way of late broadcaster Vin Scully being celebrated.

Scully narrated the famous speech from the “Field of Dreams” movie that was played at the top of the national broadcast on Fox. While the actual baseball field from the film serves as a major tourist attraction, it is not conducive to playing an MLB game at.

The league constructed an identical field not far from the movie site for the inaugural Field of Dreams Game last season between the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox. Although it’s become a popular special event, the game likely will not be played in Dyersville next year due to construction for the installation of youth baseball and softball complexes.

Along with Scully’s voice posthumously being used, his image was put on the video board as Cubs and Reds players stretched ahead of first pitch. Kourtney Turner attended the game ahead of joining Justin Turner for the Dodgers’ road trip.

"People will come, Ray. People will most definitely come."

Following the Cubs’ 4-2 win, Fox Sports shared a clip to celebrate the night and included a message that conveyed the Field of Dreams Game had been dedicated to Scully.

The longtime voice of the Dodgers passed away last week at the age of 94. Private funeral services were this past Monday, which came three days after the Dodgers celebrated Scully with a pregame ceremony at Dodger Stadium.

Vin Scully patch sold at Dodger Stadium

Coinciding with the Dodgers concluding their homestand earlier this week, the team began selling limited quantities of the Scully patch at select Dodger Stadium retail stores. Proceeds benefitted charities that Scully supported.

The Dodgers are wearing the patch for the remainder of the 2022 season.
