The first official Los Angeles Dodgers Spring Training workout takes place Monday morning as the team begins a week of preparing for their Cactus League opener against the Milwaukee Brewers.

In total, the Dodgers play 18 exhibition games, with 15 of them coming in Arizona. They have nine contests at Camelback Ranch — with eight as the designated home team. The Dodgers’ lone day off in their revised 2022 Spring Training schedule is Friday, April 1.

Similar to with Summer Camp in 2020, the Dodgers again plan to take a cautious approach during the condensed schedule leading up to Opening Day of the 2022 regular season. That will hold particularly true with stretching out starting pitchers.

“It’s going to be abbreviated, but I do think having some history with an abbreviated Spring Training certainly is something we can pull from,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said.

“I think always in Spring Training it’s starting pitchers, and getting workload built up for the relievers and position players. I’m not sure exactly on the number of guys we’re going to have in camp.

“We’re playing games here pretty quickly, so the everyday guys you probably won’t see until the weekend. It’s kind of threading the needle of ramping them up but not putting them in harm’s way.”

Sunday was the official report date for players to be in camp, but several arrived prior to that. Cody Bellinger and Mx Muncy were among them, and both participated in batting practice on a backfield.

Camelback Ranch is open daily to fans during Dodgers workouts, with admission and parking free.

Dodgers history at Camelback Ranch

The Dodgers are in their 14th year at Camelback Ranch, which is shared with the Chicago White Sox.

The property features a state-of-the-art ballpark, six practice fields on their side of the complex, including a replica Dodger Stadium field, fan photo elements commemorating franchise history, walking trails, an orange grove and a five-acre lake.

Prior to moving to Camelback Ranch, the Dodgers held Spring Training in Vero Beach, Florida. Their final game at Dodgertown was played March 17, 2008.
