There has been a lot of preseason talk about the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers being the clear-cut top two teams in baseball this year in the wake of the sign-stealing scandal involving the Houston Astros, and that is backed up by the 2020 MLB Regular-Season Win Totals posted at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

After winning the third-most games in baseball a year ago, the Yankees lead the way this season with the highest number of 102.5 as they chase their 28th World Series title.

New York won the American League East in 2019 with a 103-59 record, the team’s highest win total since finishing with an identical mark in 2009. That is also the last year the Yankees won the World Series. Meanwhile, the Astros came up short last season despite having MLB’s best record at 107-55 and taking home their second AL pennant.

Houston obviously could have some bigger challenges than simply winning games this season, as opponents and opposing fans will undoubtedly continue to take aim at the team’s players both on and off the field. Regardless, online betting sites have the Win Total for the Astros at 94.5, with the UNDER favored slightly at -120 (bet $120 to win $100).

Los Angeles had the second-highest number of wins last year after ending up at 106-56, nine more than the second-best team in the National League – the Atlanta Braves with 97. Unfortunately for the Dodgers, that still was not enough to help propel them to their third consecutive pennant, as the Washington Nationals prevented that from happening.

Still, the Win Total for Los Angeles in 2020 is right behind New York at 101.5, a number the team has managed to top in two of the past three seasons.

The Braves have the second-highest Win Total in the NL at 90.5 on those MLB odds, the only other team in the league above 90. The Nationals are right behind them though at 89.5 after going 89-73 last year and winning the World Series over the Astros as a Wild Card team.

The Minnesota Twins (92.5) and Tampa Bay Rays (90.5) are two more AL teams above 90 in the AL in addition to New York and Houston. The Twins went 101-61 in 2019 and won the AL Central while the Rays were 96-66 as the second Wild Card in the league.
