While the Los Angeles Dodgers announced their coaching staff in December, it wasn’t until last week they finalized those for the organization’s Minor League affiliates.
The Dodgers returned seven managers, and welcomed Anthony Cappuccilli (Rookie level Ogden), and Cordell Hipolito (Dominican Summer League Dodgers) as new skippers for this season.
Although Cappuccilli is a first-time manager, he’s entering a third year with the Dodgers organization. Prior to joining the Raptors, he served as a coach for the Arizona League Dodgers from 2018-19.
Cappuccilli’s Ogden staff includes pitching coach Dean Stiles, hitting coach Dylan Nasiatka and fourth coachJohan Garcia. Stiles returns to Ogden for his third season, while Nasiatka is entering his first with the Dodgers. Garcia was a former infielder in the organization’s Minor League system from 2006-10.
Jair Fernandez enters his fifth season with the organization and his second leading one of the Arizona League teams. Prior to taking over as manager of the AZL Dodgers, Fernandez spent two seasons with Low-A Great Lakes as the hitting coach.
Fernandez will be assisted by pitching coach Rob Ellis, hitting coach Jarek Cunningham and fourth coach Chris Gutierrez. Cunningham enters his fourth season as the hitting coach after spending eight seasons at both the Minor League level and independent leagues prior to joining the Dodgers.
Gutierrez is entering a third season with Dodgers organization after an 11-year Minor League career.
Dorn will manage the other AZL team as he enters his second season in the organization. The former catcher enjoyed a 10-year Minor League career, which included two stints in Korea and 23 Major League games for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2006.
Dorn’s staff includes pitching coach, Ramon Troncoso, hitting coach Keith Beauregard and fourth coach Pedro Montero. Troncoso, who spent four seasons as a relief pitcher for the Dodgers, is entering a third year as pitching coach.
The Dominican Summer League Dodgers also are broken up into two teams, with one led by Hipolito. He’s a first-time manager after spending the past two seasons as a bench coach for Ogden.
Fumi Ishibashi returns to the organization for his 10th season and second as a DSL manager. Hipolito and Ishibashi will be assisted by pitching coaches Andres Urbina, Roberto Giron and Hector Rodriguez; hitting coaches Sergio Mendez, Johermyn Chavez and Brady Conlon; and fourth coaches Dunior Zerpa and Leury Bonilla.
