Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw made an appearance of the “Today Show” with Kathie Lee and Hoda, who were live from Venice Beach, Calif.

Kershaw brought the hosts Dodger Dogs and jerseys, and among the topics they discussed were his two children, Cali Ann and Charley.

They also discussed Kershaw and his wife Ellen’s charity initiative, Kershaw’s Challenge, which they came up with when they went on a Christian mission to Zambia in 2011.

Kershaw is currently on the disabled list with bicep tendonitis, although he is scheduled to return on Thursday in the series finale against the Philadelphia Phillies.

As has been the case in previous seasons when Kershaw was injured, the Dodgers supporting cast has stepped up their game in his absence, winning nine of their last 11 games going into play on Tuesday.

At 25-28, the Dodgers are now just 3.5 games out of first place in the National League West. At the end of the day that Kershaw last pitched, May 1, they were nine games out of first so they have made up a significant part of that deficit.
