Watch: Dodgers prospect Jesus Galiz Works With Royals’ Salvador Perez

The Los Angeles Dodgers organization has been among the best in baseball in recent years, consistently maintaining a top-five farm system while also winning the National League West each of the last eight years.

Perhaps the best position they have been able to identify is catcher, as not only do they have one of the best young backstops in the league in Will Smith, but they also have two of the top prospects as well in Keibert Ruiz and Diego Cartaya.

The Dodgers signed both Ruiz and Cartaya as international free agents out of Venezuela, and they are poised to do so again. Earlier this offseason , who is one of the top prospects in the upcoming international signing period.

Galiz has not yet played any games in the Dodgers organization, but he has already begun getting to work for the 2021 season as he recently had the chance to work out with Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez, via Tyler Spicer of Prospects 365:

Perez is not only one of the best catchers in baseball, but also one of the best Venezuelan players ever, so that is certainly a good resource for a young catcher like Galiz to learn from.

Dodgers reportedly have interest in Ozuna

Other than the pending addition of Galiz and a handful of other under-the-radar signings, it has been a relatively quiet offseason for the Dodgers to this point.

They have made it clear that they are still looking to add a right-handed bat though, and recent reports indicate they have interest in Marcell Ozuna, who is coming off a career year with the Atlanta Braves.

As a corner outfielder and designated hitter, the Dodgers do not have a clear need for Ozuna. He was one of the best hitters in the league this past year, however, and certainly would make for a solid addition to their lineup.
