Spring Training Recap: White Sox End Dodgers’ Cactus League Winning Streak

3 Min Read

The Los Angeles Dodgers saw their eight-game Cactus League winning streak come to an end as they were defeated by the Chicago White Sox, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon.

The Dodgers’ offense was unable to put many rallies together in the game. Their starters managed just five hits, with Andy Pages accounting for two of them. Overall, they went 1-for-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven on base.

Both of their runs came in the fifth inning when Chris Taylor and Pages singled to lead off, followed by a Shohei Ohtani walk that loaded the bases. Mookie Betts tied the game with a sacrifice fly, and Freddie Freeman followed with a go-ahead RBI single.

However, the White Sox tied the game in the fifth against Ben Casparius before taking the lead off Anthony Banda.

Casparius pitched 1.2 innings, allowing one run on three hits while striking out two. Banda struggled, lasting just 0.2 innings and surrendering three runs on four hits with one strikeout.

Tyler Glasnow started and looked dominant, striking out six while allowing just two hits over three innings. His lone mistake was a pitch to Miguel Vargas, who homered in the second inning.

Alex Vesia pitched a scoreless inning, striking out two.

Dodgers remaining Cactus League schedule

The Dodgers now have just three Cactus League games remaining, which all come over the next three days, before they head to Japan for the Tokyo Series against the Chicago Cubs.

On Sunday, the Dodgers take on the Athletics, with Blake Snell scheduled to pitch. On Monday, they face the Arizona Diamondbacks, where Yoshinobu Yamamoto will make his final tune-up start before Opening Day.

They wrap up Cactus League play on Tuesday with Roki Sasaki starting against the Cleveland Guardians.

All games are scheduled to start at 1:05 p.m. PT at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Arizona.
