The Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks wrap what’s been an entertaining four-game Opening Series that’s seen a little bit of everything.
From an MLB record eight home runs on Opening Day to the longest regular-season home game in Dodgers franchise history to a pair of catchers taking the mound on the same night. Now, Walker Buehler makes his regular-season debut.
Buehler was slow-played throughout Spring Training in some part due to not feeling 100% healthy at the outset of camp. He attributed that to a larger workload in 2018 but also wasn’t overly concerned.
Buehler didn’t make his 2019 debut until March 19, which was the only Spring Training game he pitched in.
The Diamondbacks counter with Luke Weaver who is in his first season with the team after being acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals in the Paul Goldschmidt trade. Weaver went 15-17 with a 4.79 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in 52 games (43 starts) over parts of three seasons with St. Louis.
He’s facing a potent Dodgers lineup that’s scored 34 runs through the first three games. That’s their most in franchise history since scoring 35 runs in their first three games to start the 1887 season.
