Just as commissioner Rob Manfred suggested would be the case, the league announced players are reverting back to wearing their respective team’s jersey, in either a home or road uniform, for the annual MLB All-Star Game, beginning in 2025 at Truist Park.

Players traditionally wore the uniform of their team in the MLB All-Star Game until sweeping change was implemented for the Midsummer Classic at Coors Field in 2021.

Former Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star Justin Turner was among those to voice his disappointment at the time with the change to generic All-Star Game jerseys for the National League and American League.

Under the uniform approach that was taken by Nike and Major League Baseball, there was an attempt for jerseys, caps and socks to incorporate elements and designs related to the host city each year.

For the 2023 All-Star Game at T-Mobile Park, the Nike Vapor Premier jersey was debuted. Vapor Premier was engineered to improve mobility, moisture management and fit while keeping sustainability in mind.

Using the latest in digital technology, Nike body-scanned more than 300 players to develop an ideal jersey that is more athletic and form-fitting than previous chassis.

The Vapor Premier jersey design from Nike and manufactured by Fanatics quickly came under criticism, however, as letters for player last names were much smaller than on previous uniforms. That also is among corrections being implemented moving forward.

While a longstanding tradition is returning, MLB and Nike are collaborating on a special All-Star Game uniform to be worn during the workout day and for those attending the Home Run Derby.

However, Home Run Derby participants will continue wearing their team’s primary home uniform.

Future MLB All-Star Games

2025: Braves, Truist Park

The Atlanta Braves are hosting the 2025 MLB All-Star Game at Truist Park on Tuesday, July 15.

The Braves previously hosted the All-Star Game in 1972 at Atlanta Stadium, and again in 2000 at Turner Field. The Braves were awarded the 2021 All-Star Game at Truist Park but MLB moved it to Coors Field in response to concerns over a Georgia voting law disproportionately impacting minorities.

The Braves franchise also hosted the All-Star Game in Boston in 1936, and in Milwaukee in 1955 before moving to Atlanta for the 1966 season.

2026: Phillies, Citizens Bank Park

Back on April 16, 2019, Manfred announced the Philadelphia Phillies would host the 2026 MLB All-Star Game at Citizens Bank Park.

The Phillies were awarded the 96th Midsummer Classic well in advance due to 2026 marking the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

“It was a really easy sell to baseball to host the game here in Philadelphia,” Phillies managing partner John Middleton said at the time. “It’s the logical place.”

MLB All-Star Game history in the city of Philadelphia includes hosting in 1943, 1952, 1976 and 1996. The Philadelphia Athletics were hosts in 1943, and the Phillies had the honor in 1952, 1976 and 1996.

The 1976 MLB All-Star Game was scheduled in conjunction with the country’s bicentennial celebration.

The 2025 All-Star Game is going to be the first played at Citizens Bank Park, which opened in 2004.

2027, 2028 & 2029 All-Star Games

Locations for MLB All-Star Games in 2027, 2028 and 2029 have not yet been set. However, comments by Manfred and reports suggest the Toronto Blue Jays, Chicago Cubs and Baltimore Orioles are due to host in that order.
