PGA Tour Star Max Homa Wears Walker Buehler Dodgers Jersey At 2025 WM Phoenix Open

3 Min Read

The annual Waste Management Phoenix Open is being held this weekend in Arizona, which saw PGA Tour star and noted Los Angeles Dodgers fan Max Homa take to the green.

Homa missed the cut after shooting three-over par but still got to represent his hometown team during the tournament.

While on the 16th hole, the Burbank, Calif., native rocked a Walker Buehler Dodgers jersey that drew praise from the now-Boston Red Sox pitcher.

Homa has paid tribute to his favorite team on several occasions over the years, including in 2023 when he wore a Dodgers hat during the Phoenix Open. Homa also threw out the first pitch at Dodger Stadium during the 2019 season.

Although he is no longer part of the organization after signing with the Boston Red Sox, Bueher will forever have a special place in Dodgers history.

The right-hander finished the 2024 postseason with 13 consecutive scoreless innings, including six against the New York Yankees in the World Series.

Buehler memorably closed out the deciding Game 5 on just one day of rest by retiring all three batters en route to his first Major League save.

The 30-year-old signed a one-year, $21.05 million contract with the Red Sox after spending seven seasons in L.A.

Walker Buehler’s Dodgers career

The Dodgers drafted Buehler in the first round with the No. 24 overall pick in 2015. He underwent a first Tommy John surgery soon after and made his MLB debut in 2017.

Buehler then became a fixture in the Dodgers rotation in 2018, which included memorably starting Game 163 against the Colorado Rockies to win the National League West.

Buehler went 47-22 with a 3.27 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 131 games (122 starts) over his Dodgers career. Those seven seasons included two All-Star Game selections, All-MLB First Team selection in 2021 and two World Series titles.
